Sorry this is long but any advice would be great!!!?

Ok so i met this guy about 1 year ago a little less at first i thought he was just super annoying and stuck up but then i really got to know him and i fell in love (not kidding). So i have talked to him since we met but i get super nervous around guys i like so not that much so then i finally got up the nerve to ask him for his number and then i gave him mine. We have texted a couple of times and that is about it. I went sledding with him and a couple of our friends and when we left he made a point to come up and say bye to me and was really sweet about it. So i called him the other day because i changed my number and he seem really annoyed and he hasnt been answering my texts. I am thinking about telling him i like him because i dont know if he knows (he can be tottally unaware) but neither of us can date for at least 2 years and i dont want it to be akward and i want to tell him over text. My friends said this was improper but i am not sure. So my questions are continued.
